About Ilhabela

Ilhabela (literally Beautiful Island) is an archipelago off the coast of São Paulo state, 4 hours by car + ferry from the city. The main island is 85% Atlantic Forest preserved national park, with 41 beaches scattered around its perimeter and 360 waterfalls hiding in the interior. It hosts Brazil's largest sailing week (Semana de Vela, July) and is the Brazilian luxury weekend escape for São Paulo elites. The east coast (facing the ocean) has wild beaches reachable only by boat or 4×4 trail.
